Co-head of DC Studios James Gunn clarified on the social network Bluesky the canonicity of the DC universe reboot projects. “Creature Commandos” — is the standard.
The director also explains the status of “Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker”. They are somewhat canon, and somewhat not. It will be clearer from the direct speech:
“Short answer: only Creature Commandos and what comes after them is pure canon. For example, Rick Flag Jr. was killed because we heard Rick Flag Sr. talking about it in Creature Commandos, not because we saw it in ‘Suicide Squad’.
“Long answer: only CC is pure canon; ‘Peacemaker’ almost fully matches this canon, except for ‘Justice League’; ‘Suicide Squad’ is very consistent, but I consider it rather an imperfect memory”.
The next DC film will be “Superman” with David Corenswet in the lead role — it will definitely be canonical. The film will be released in Ukraine on July 10, 2025.
