Published by Vadym Karpus

Kia has introduced its 2026 EV4 electric model in two variants – a sedan and a hatchback – offering an affordable option for those looking for an electric vehicle with a good range. The hatchback will be available in Europe, while the sedan will go on sale in the United States.

The Kia EV4 sedan is 4730 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2820 mm. It offers ample interior space, including a spacious rear seat and a 490-liter trunk. The hatchback is 300 mm shorter (4430 mm long), so it has a slightly smaller luggage space of 435 liters. Inside, a 30-inch display is available that integrates screens for the driver, climate control, and infotainment system.

Both versions of the 2026 Kia EV4 will offer two battery options:

  • The Standard version has a capacity of 58.3 kWh,
  • The Long-range version has a capacity of 81.4 kWh.

Kia estimates that the larger battery will provide approximately 531 km of driving range based on US testing standards. The WLTP rating for the sedan with the larger battery is 630 km. The EV4 hatchback gets a slightly lower WLTP rating of 590 km.

The new EV4, both hatchback and sedan, are equipped with front-wheel drive with a 201 hp engine. Kia claims that the models with the larger battery can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in about 7.7 seconds, while the version with the smaller battery reaches this speed in 7.4 seconds.

The battery is charged via a 400-volt architecture. It supports Level 2 AC charging with a capacity of 11 kW and fast DC charging. In this case, the batteries restore the energy reserve from 10% to 80% in 29 or 31 minutes, depending on the version. The EV4 also has V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) functions, which allows it to power external devices or return energy to the grid.

The 2026 Kia EV4 electric car has been equipped with the Highway Driving Assist 2 driver assistance system. It includes features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and frontal collision avoidance. The Digital Key 2.0 function offers smartphone access and remote control, and the i-Pedal 3.0 system provides adjustable regenerative braking. The infotainment system supports streaming services such as YouTube and Netflix, and Kia AI Assistant improves voice recognition.

Production of the new EV4 electric vehicle for the Korean market begins in March, with European models to follow in the second half of the year. The American versions are expected to roll off the line later this year or in early 2026. The planned starting price of the Kia EV4 in 2026 is about €31500, making the new product an intermediate option between more expensive electric vehicles and the growing demand for affordable electric vehicles.

In the future, Kia plans to release more more affordable electric car with a price of about €20,000.
