ThinkBook 3D Laptop та AI Ring / Lenovo
On the eve of Mobile World Congress (MWC), Lenovo is presenting a number of concepts, including a solar-powered Yoga, ThinkBook Flip with an 18.1″ sliding screen, and more.
A simple idea for using a laptop outdoors is to add a solar panel to the lid. According to Lenovo, the concept has a conversion rate of 24%, which is due to the Back Contact Cell technology, which «moves the mounting brackets and grid lines on the back of the solar cells to maximize active absorption.
«Dynamic Solar Tracking continuously measures the solar panel’s current and voltage, working with Solar-First Energy to automatically adjust charger settings and prioritize the energy collected to the system, helping to maximize energy savings and system stability regardless of light intensity. Even in low-light conditions, the panel is still able to generate electricity, keeping the battery charged when the PC is not in use,» Lenovo explains.
In direct sunlight, you can get enough power in 20 minutes to run an hour of local 1080p video playback The laptop has an Intel Core Ultra of an unspecified model, up to 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, a 50.2 Wh battery, and a 14″ OLED screen. The release date and price of the device are unknown.
Solar Power Kit for Yoga — a compact solar power kit for the aforementioned laptops. small folding solar panels power the devices via USB Type-C.
The ThinkBook Codename Flip laptop with a folding screen has an 18.1″ OLED display with a resolution of 2000 x 2664 and an aspect ratio of 3:4. The panel folds outward using double hinges to create five possible hardware and software combinations. In some of them, the resolution is reduced to 2000 x 1258.
The laptop received an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM with a PCIe SSD drive. All this fits into a 13″ laptop chassis.
The ThinkBook 3D uses directional backlighting to switch between 2D and 3D modes. Lenovo says the 3200 x 2000 display is designed for business and creative professionals.
What’s more, the laptop comes with an AI Ring for contactless navigation and customization of 3D models. It’s hard to imagine how it works, but it probably does, Lenovo will show it at the exhibition.
Lenovo has also conceptualized a series of accessories for the ThinkBook 16p Gen 6 laptop with a separate Magic Bay port. The first two gadgets are an additional device with two 13.3″ additional displays. There is also a smaller 8″ display that serves as a separate hardware «window» for displaying notifications and other urgent information.
The concept, codenamed Tiko, is described by Lenovo as a «compact companion for emotional interaction with artificial intelligence that displays emoji-style status in real time, provides interactive gesture-based responses, and offers personalized emoji». There is also Tiko Pro, an AI-powered display that works as an assistant.
