More than two years ago, Lenovo introduced the concept of a laptop with a sliding screen that could be expanded and collapsed with the touch of a button. At CES 2025, the company brought this idea to life with the launch of the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable laptop.
This device looks almost exactly like its concept. The flexible 14-inch OLED screen expands to 16.7 inches at the touch of a button, adding 50% additional screen space without the need to connect accessories or peripherals. Alternatively, you can use gestures to expand the screen, but this method takes longer than the button. The display brightness is 400 nits, and the OLED panel provides rich colors and high contrast.
However, it’s not just a sliding screen. Lenovo has added a set of special features for multitasking that allow you to use the extended space for widgets, a virtual clipboard, or viewing frequently used documents. During video calls, you can turn the extra screen into a virtual monitor, leaving the main desktop clean for presentations.
What’s also impressive is that the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is almost no larger or heavier than a standard laptop of the same size. It weighs about 1.63 kg and is only 19 mm thick.
This laptop can be called a balanced device, despite the emphasis on a futuristic display. For those who travel frequently and need more screen space, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable can be the perfect work tool.
The main disadvantage of the novelty is the price. ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 will start at $3500. More affordable alternatives are the Yoga Book 9i or ASUS Zenbook Duo, which also offer additional screen space, but at a lower price.
