LG announces UltraGear GX9 45″ 5K2K gaming monitor with flexible screen

Published by Andrii Rusanov

LG calls the LG 45GX990A “the world’s first 5K2K flexible screen gaming monitor.” Its reveal is set for CES 2025.

This new model will be one of several monitors in the UltraGear GX9 series. Its main feature is a 45” OLED display with a resolution of 5120 x 2160 and a 21:9 aspect ratio, which can change shape from a perfectly flat surface to a 900R curved screen.

LG isn’t spilling all the specs until the show, but they’re giving us some juicy details. The company used “advanced WOLED technology” that delivers high brightness, true blacks, stunning colors, low blue light emission, and reduced eye strain. Also, the 45GX990A comes with LG’s Anti-Glare & Low Reflection (AGLR) coating to eliminate glare.

The manufacturer claims that the monitor can smoothly transition from completely flat to 900R in just seconds, indicating some serious mechanics. The 900R curve is quite steep—it’s based on a segment of a circle with a 900 mm radius. The 45GX990A has a super fast response time of just 0.03 ms. The maximum refresh rate is still under wraps, but Ultragear GX9 supports NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

Also featured is a “four-sided borderless design,” choice of resolution and refresh rate. There are preset modes for FPS, RPG, MOBA, racing games, etc. Ultragear GX9 45GX990A is equipped with LG WebOS for work functions, supports DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with up to 90W power.
