Lionsgate Company objected information that director Chad Stagelski has replaced Len Weisman as director of «Ballerina» and carried out large-scale re-shoots.

According to The Wrap, the reshoots lasted two to three months. The publication also reported that this delayed Stagelski’s work on restart «Highlander»which is why Henry Cavill agreed for the lead role in «Voltron».

Lionsgate emphasizes that Wiseman directed the reshoots, and Stagelski only helped create new action scenes to improve the film. The company adds that Stagelski temporarily took over as director due to Wiseman’s serious health problems and his brief hospitalization.

However, actor Ian McShane, who stars in «Ballerina», previously confirmed the information about the reshoots with Stagelski. He noted that the «movie simply wasn’t good enough for» and the crew had to create completely new scenes with a different director.

Also in October 2023, Empire City described the movie as «mess» and confirmed the additional filming, noting that most of the movie had to be reshot from scratch. Lionsgate did not deny this information.

«Ballerina» — is a spinoff of the popular «John Wick» franchise, starring Ana de Armas. She embodies the image of a graceful dancer who is also a skilled assassin. The plot is driven by her thirst for revenge against the people responsible for the death of her family.
