Apple will soon begin production of 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the new M4 chip. They will be launched in early 2025. This was reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Apple is currently working on introducing the M4 chip to the entire Mac lineup, and the first Macs with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max processors are due to be introduced next week. Apple plans to release new models of Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and iMac.
The updated MacBook Air models will appear in the first months of 2025, from January to March. There are no design changes planned for the new MacBook Air models, the focus will be on the M4 chip and the performance improvements it will offer.
After the MacBook Air, Apple plans to update Mac Studio. Gurman claims that Mac Studio was planned to be updated along with the MacBook Air, but now the release has been postponed to a later period – from March to June. In previous articles, he said that Mac Studio would be released in mid-2025, so it’s unclear what has changed.
A Mac Pro with an M4 chip is also in development, but it probably won’t be released until 2025.
Around the same time as the release of MacBook Air models in early 2025, Apple will also update the iPhone SE, iPad Air, low-cost iPad, and introduce a new keyboard designed for the iPad Air. The year 2025 will also see the debut of a new home hub with a small square screen.
