The three-time «Oscar» nominee revealed the details of creating one of the most revealing scenes of her career.

Ten years after the release of «The Wolf of Wall Street», Margot Robbie shared some unknown details of the filming. The role of the wife of a financial fraudster in Scorsese’s film was a breakthrough for Robbie and brought her worldwide fame.

The Australian actress told the Talking Pictures podcast (via Deadline) that she was the one who insisted on full nudity in the episode of seducing the wealthy stockbroker Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The director suggested that she wear a cape, but Robbie refused.

«Her character would not wear a cape in this scene. The point was to go completely naked — that was her trump card», — Margot explained.

During the final audition, the actress surprised the filmmakers with a spontaneous decision. Instead of kissing DiCaprio, she hit him in the face.

«There was a dead silence that seemed like an eternity, but lasted only three seconds. Then everyone burst out laughing», — Robbie recalls.

At that moment, the actress thought she had ruined her career: «I will not only never work again, but I will also go to prison for assault. I’m an idiot! Why did I have to hit him so hard?». However, it was this spontaneous act that impressed Scorsese and DiCaprio — they laughed for a long time and said it was great.

The star also said that she suggested adding a scene of the last sex between her character Naomi and Jordan Belfort before the divorce. According to her, Scorsese was eager to listen to suggestions for changes to the script and created an atmosphere of creative freedom on the set.

«The Wolf of Wall Street» was released in December 2013. Martin Scorsese’s film tells the true story of Jordan Belfort, who made a fortune on financial fraud in the 1990s. The film received five «Oscar» nominations and grossed over $390 million at the box office. For Margot Robbie, the role of Naomi was a breakthrough — after the film’s release, the actress began to be invited to large-scale Hollywood projects. Today, she has played roles in such hits as «Once Upon a Time in Hollywood», «Sensation», and «Barbie».
