Ben Chow, the former co-founder of the Meteora platform, said that his account on social network X (formerly Twitter) was hacked by hackers. Initially, a post advertising a new «parasitic» memecoin appeared on his page. But later, Chow deleted the tweet and reported that his account had been compromised, and urged followers to ignore any messages about new memcoins published on his behalf. He also noted that he is working to regain control of the account and is investigating the circumstances of the hack.
Meteora’s official account on the X platform confirmed that Chow’s account had been accessed without authorization. In recent months, the cryptocurrency community has faced a number of fraudulent schemes targeting high-profile individuals and projects. These incidents often involve the unauthorized promotion of fraudulent meme coins, which has led to significant financial losses among buyers.
In February 2025, reports surfaced accusing Chow of secretly managing or receiving LIBRA tokens. These accusations led to Chow’s resignation from Meteora.
