Microsoft has finally confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 has a problem with RDP (Remote Desktop Platform). The company has begun an emergency rollout of a server update that will fix the problem, but it may take 24-48 hours before remote sessions are back to normal.
Back in February 2025, reports of RDP issues in Windows 11 24H2 began to surface. At the time, Microsoft had not yet recognized these failures. After installing the optional January Update and subsequent updates, the problem became more widespread.
When the session was disconnected (for example, by closing the RDP client or due to a network failure), the reconnection would result in a boot with «spinning dots» on the login screen that would freeze. Some users have reported that when connecting to a server via SSH, the session appears to be running, but the RDP screen still shows nothing.
Microsoft officially confirmed the problem on February 25. Later, the company said the bug was fixed in Windows 11 update KB5052093 (February patch), but the problem remained in the March update. After the March 2025 update, even more users began to experience Remote Desktop crashes. Microsoft has now admitted that it was the March patch that made the problem worse.
Microsoft has now released a fix for Windows 11 24H2 via a Known Issue Rollback (KIR). It is being rolled out gradually and will be fully effective within 48 hours. To speed up the process, we recommend rebooting your device.
At the same time, Microsoft has released update KB5053657 for Windows 11, which fixes the bug, which caused printers to automatically print random characters and data.
After the January 11 update of Windows 11 was released, users noticed that printers were printing strange characters on their own. This is because USB printers in two modes (USB Print + IPP over USB) were not working correctly due to a bug in Windows. Microsoft has confirmed that the bug affects all the latest versions of Windows 11.
An update for Windows 11 23H2, which fixes the problem with printers, is now available to users. A similar update for Windows 11 24H2 is due out on March 27, 2025. These fixes will also be included in April’s «Patch Tuesday update and will be available to all Windows 11 users.
Previously, Microsoft released a mandatory Windows 10 update with installation failures and bugs, as well asfixed a Windows 11 bug that many would like to keep.
