Actress Carrie Coon appeared in «Avengers: Infinity War» as the villain Proxima Midnight and was supposed to continue her role in the final film, but received too little screen time due to a payment dispute with Marvel.
Playwright and actor Tracy Letts told this in an interview (via Games Radar), and part-time husband of Kun.
«Marvel approached Carrie for a second movie, and she said, “Well, the first one is the most successful one they’ve ever made. Are you going to pay me money?” And they said: “No. We’re not going to pay you any more money.”»
In the end, Carrie declined the offer, to which Marvel responded:
«You are lucky to be part of the MCU».
In fact, Proxima Midnight can be seen in «Endgame», but she received very little screen time: along with Thanos and his other children, the character of Kun arrives from the past, but quickly dies at the hands of Tony Stark.
Fortunately for Kuhn, the MCU was not the peak of her career. The actress is best known for her work in the HBO series «The Leftovers», and has also appeared as Bertha Russell in «The Gilded Age» and co-starred in the latest «Ghostbusters» films alongside Paul Rudd.
It should be reminded that Marvel is currently working on two new Avengers movies — «Judgment Day» and «The Secret Wars» directed by the Russo brothers and involvement of Robert Downey Jr. to the lead role (this time as the villain Dr. Doom). Last week, the studio launched a 5-hour broadcast, which introduced the castwhich among 25+ characters included «X-Men» and future stars of the new «Fantastic Four».
What’s interesting, new «Avengers» broke Marvel’s record before release — with 275 million views on the presentation and 3.1 million mentions on social media.
