Netflix game studio based in Southern California and was focused on the development of AAA projects — according to the Game FileIt was closed down (in fact, less than two years after its opening).

The studio, also known as «Team Blue», was supposed to break the mold of what Netflix does in games and had a high-budget strategy to create projects for multiple devices at once.

Over the past two years, «Team Blue» has attracted several well-known industry professionals: Overwatch executive producer Chaco Sonny; former Bungie and 343 Industries creative director Joseph Staten, who worked on Halo; and God of War art director Rafael Grassetti.

Staten was leaving the Xbox» camp at the time with plans to work as the «creative director of a brand new AAA multiplatform game».

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed the closure of the studio and the departure of all three specialists, but did not name the reasons.

At the same time, the streaming service still has studios that make smaller games — including based on original projects of the service. In July, Netflix co-CEOs said that plan to release one game per month, claiming that 80 were under development at the time.
