Tom Holland said that he had already read the preliminary version of the script for his fourth movie «Spider-Man». It is very exciting in some places, but «needs to be improved upon».
During an interview on the Rich Roll Podcast, Holland said he recently read a draft of the script for the new «Spider-Man» movie: «it needs work, but the writers are doing a great job» Previously it has been reported that «Shang-Chi» Destin director Daniel Cretton is in talks to direct the sequel, after taking over the franchise from the director of the last trilogy, John Watts.
«One of the things is that for Marvel, your movie — is a small cog in a big machine. That machine has to work. You have to make sure that you can fit into that schedule at the right time to get the benefit of the picture. That’s one of the challenges we face. The time in which we need to do it is a challenge, but definitely achievable with the people who are working on it now,» said Holland about making the new film.
Holland has played Peter Parker’s Spider-Verse in three films directed by Jon Watts: «Spider-Man: Homecoming» (2017), «Spider-Man: Far From Home» (2019) and «Spider-Man: No Way Home» (2021). He has also appeared in this role in such Marvel blockbusters as «Avengers: Infinity War». Zendaya plays the role of a character’s girlfriend in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
«We have the creative, we have the pitch and the draft, which is great. It takes work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and sometimes we jumped up and down in the living room like it was a real movie worthy of fan respect».
At the end of «There’s No Way Out» Dr. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, made the whole world forget who Peter Parker is, as well as his two closest friends, MJ and Ned (Jacob Batalon). the upcoming movie will start from this place.
In February 2023, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed Holland’s fourth «Spider-Man» movie:
«All I will say is that we have a story. We have big ideas for it, and our writers are just putting pen to paper right now».
Development of the script was put on hold due to the WGA strike later that year. Last November, Holland said that he would only return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the fourth film if the team could do justice to the character.
