Editor REDkit allows you to add new locations and quests in The Witcher 3. Tales of the Witcher mod Geralt returns to the kingdom where the key events of the saga took place «Witcher» — to Cintra.
Modification to NexusMods is available for play, but is not yet complete due to its large scale. There are two quests available, which are a prologue to the main storyline. They introduce the player to the world and prepare for future adventures. The territory of the city of the same name is still in the works, but an early version is available for exploration.
«The core concept of the mod is to create an immersive experience that encourages players to freely explore and fully immerse themselves in the Witcher world. TotW aims to promote a slower style of play, where fulfilling monster contracts takes center stage. Future plans also include character updates to add more depth and immersion, as well as adding new battle animations from The Witcher 2».
The new game does not yet have a map. The author gerwant30 writes that this may change in the future, but this is intentional. Geralt’s goals are reached through conversations with characters who talk about events and suggest future steps — just like in role-playing games of the past.
«I find that exploring and discovering things on my own is much more satisfying and rewarding. Geralt starts at level 10, so be sure to spread out your skills. If the battle is too hard, try to prepare yourself by creating potions or bombs. You can find an herbalist in the market if you need some ingredients».
The mod provides a new game and is incompatible with saves in the main The Witcher 3. Installation is done by moving the files to the main game directory. Then select Tales of the Witcher in the main menu. Also, the mod has no voice acting due to the ban on the use of AI, but the author has created lip synchronization. Like other early access mods, the add-on may contain errors for which the author apologizes.
