Jetson Orin Nano Super / Nvidia
Nvidia Company introduced a new version of the Jetson computer costing $249 for running artificial intelligence programs locally. The Orin Nano model outperforms predecessor twice as fast and efficient, while being half the price.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang demonstrated the new product in a video on YouTubetaking the compact device out of the oven in his kitchen. According to him, the computer is capable of processing almost «seventy trillion» operations per second, consuming only 25 watts.
«Many years ago, we created a completely new type of processor — a processor for robots. At the time, no one understood what we were developing, but we predicted that someday these deep learning models would evolve and robots would be everywhere,» Huang said.
Orin Nano is equipped with a six-core Arm Cortex-A78AE processor with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz. The graphics chip contains 1024 CUDA cores and 32 tensor cores operating at 1020 MHz. The device has 8 GB of RAM and provides performance up to 67 TOPS.
The computer supports a wide range of connections: four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, two MIPI CSI connectors (compatible with Raspberry Pi cameras), M.2 2280 and M.2 2230 slots for SSDs. A 40-pin GPIO connector allows for the use of Raspberry Pi Hats.
The device runs the Linux L4T operating system optimized for Nvidia hardware. Sales of Orin Nano will begin at the end of the month.
Orin Nano will be used by developers of robots and industrial equipment that require autonomous operation without a cloud connection. For example, Sam Altman’s startup World (formerly known as Worldcoin) uses the Jetpack module in its Orb device to scan the iris.
