NVIDIA RTX 5090 and AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D — the world’s fastest gaming laptops announced

Published by Andrii Rusanov

At CES 2025, only laptops with NVIDIA RTX 5070 / 5080 paired with AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX were showcased. One of the manufacturers decided to address this with RTX 5090 and Ryzen 9 9955HX3D.

An interesting situation occurred at CES 2025 with gaming laptops from many manufacturers. They introduced models with only Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5070 / 5080, while RTX 5090 was seemingly reserved for Intel Core Ultra 200HX or Ryzen AI HX 370 chips. Chinese manufacturers, it seems, noticed this and reacted.

Gamers, eager to obtain the fastest gaming processor and graphics card in a laptop, were somewhat disappointed — Machenike and Mechrevo announced laptops with the newly introduced Ryzen 9 9955HX3D paired with RTX 5090. Essentially, AMD’s most powerful mobile gaming chips have received 3D V-Cache, similar to the desktop processors 9950X3D, and will operate with the most powerful graphics card.

The Mechrevo laptop will have a liquid cooling system that allows the use of the UltraBoost mode with power consumption up to 280W, while the Machenike model supports up to 230W. The mobile RTX 5090 officially has a 150W TDP, but supports up to 175W through Dynamic Boost. Ryzen 9 9955HX3D consumes up to 55W and can potentially operate at higher TGP levels. Machenike claims that its laptops will provide up to 125W TDP for this processor.

The availability of both models will initially be limited to the Chinese market. However, it is quite possible that they could be launched globally and might prompt more well-known competitors to adopt similar configurations. However, their owners should prepare for significant power consumption, heavy weight, and potentially, noise.
