Oppo is preparing to present a new model of smartwatch Watch X2. Zhou Yibao, Oppo’s product manager, said that one of the key new features of the wearable device will be blood pressure monitoring.
The smartwatch and its new feature were shown in a photo of practical use. The device will have a round screen and two buttons on the right side. It will be available in February, when the Oppo Find N5 – «the world’s thinnest folding phone» will also be presented and launched.
The photo shows the unusual design of the Oppo Watch X2, but it looks like it’s just a huge outer case cover created to protect the design from prying eyes until the official presentation.
Oppo’s product manager said that the Watch X2 sent him a notification that indicated a possible risk of high blood pressure. He added that he now needs to monitor his diet and daily routine more closely, as hypertension (or high blood pressure) is a major risk factor for mortality worldwide.
This will be Oppo’s first wearable device that can monitor blood pressure. Although its subsidiary OnePlus has already integrated this feature into the Watch 2. In addition, Oppo will join the ranks of Samsung, Huawei, Google (and Fitbit), and Garmin, which offer similar products.
