On October 21, 2024, Paul DiAnno, whose voice can be heard on Iron Maiden and Killers albums, died.

According to a statement from his label Conquest Music on behalf of DiAnno’s family, he died at the age of 66 for an unspecified reason. However, it is known that the vocalist had been fighting the disease for several years.

Paul DiAnno was the vocalist of Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981 and sang on the band’s self-titled debut album and the next album, the cult «Killers». He was replaced by Bruce Dickinson, who is still the vocalist, despite a significant period of absence and a solo career.

In the following years, DiAnno was the leader of Battlezone and Killers and released several solo albums. In recent years, he has suffered from health problems, but still managed to give more than 100 concerts since 2023, according to the label’s statement.

Di’Anno’s performances on the recordings include such hits as «Running Free», «Sanctuary», and others. Paul denied the known reasons for his departure from the band, which allegedly consisted of disputes with founder Steve Harris and manager Rod Smallwood due to dissatisfaction with the vocalist’s performances.

Iron Maiden’s first two albums can be considered classics not only of heavy metal, but also of rock in general.
