Last year, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law requiring men and women liable for military service aged 18 to 60 to update their registration information in the Military Registration and Enlistment Office. Some people deliberately refused to comply with this provision of the law, hoping to avoid being drafted. Their reasoning was simple: if you don’t update your data, the system won’t know anything about you. But they were wrong.
Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitalization Kateryna Chernogorenko said that even without personal updates to the TCC, the «Oberih» register receives information about people liable for military service. Since the summer of 2024, the register has been filled with data on men aged 16-60. Thanks to the exchange of information with other state registers, «Oberih» «sees» information about those who have never registered for military service and have not visited the TCC. Information about persons liable for military service is taken from the Unified Demographic Register and the State Migration Service system.
Young men aged 16 to 25 are automatically registered for military service. They do not need to apply to the CMC and undergo a military qualification examination. Persons liable for military service aged 18 and older can generate a military registration document in the «Reserve+» application.
The Ministry of Defense plans to conduct automatic registration of men aged 16-25 for a year. After that, the Ministry will publish the results of the experiment. Currently, the process is still ongoing as the team continues to verify information due to incomplete data.
«We received a large amount of data from other agencies to register men aged 17 to 25. We are currently registering them. The data set may be incomplete, so our team additionally checks the information. This slows down the process somewhat, but guarantees reliability,», — said Kateryna Chernogorenko.
Men between the ages of 25 and 60 cannot be registered for military service automatically. Those who are 25 years of age or older must personally appear at the military registration and enlistment office at the place of registration, where an employee will enter their data manually. It is only possible to update the registration information remotely.
According to the deputy minister, the team is ready to implement automatic registration for all men liable for military service in Ukraine. However, this requires the adoption of appropriate legislative changes. Currently, the Ministry of Defense does not say when these changes might be made.
As reported earlier, the Ministry of Defense Ukrainians aged 25-60 abroad will be automatically registered with the TCC. Now we are talking about all persons liable for military service – progress is not standing still. At the same time, the military registration and enlistment office is moving online, as the conclusions of medical commissions will automatically fall into «Oberig».
