Lenovo Legion gaming laptops are getting a significant upgrade, including new processors and graphics cards up to RTX 5090.
The most interesting among the new products is the 10th generation Legion Pro 7i. The device combines an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. The Lenovo Legion Coldfront Vapor cooling system provides thermal power (TDP) of up to 250 watts. The configuration includes up to 64 GB of DDR5 6400 MHz RAM and a built-in LA1+LA3 AI chip. The AI engine is used to dynamically adjust the CPU and GPU power for optimal performance. All this should improve performance.
The laptop has a 16-inch WQXGA OLED display (2560×1600 pixels, 16:10). The screen supports frame rates up to 240 Hz and has a response time of 1 ms. It can reach a brightness of 500 nits. The Legion Pro 7i has two USB-C ports (one of which is Thunderbolt 4), three USB-A ports and HDMI 2.1. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will go on sale in March for a price of $2399, and variants with RTX 5090 will cost even more.
Meanwhile, the 10th generation Legion Pro 5i (Intel) and Legion Pro 5 (AMD) offer an Intel Ultra 9 275HX or AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, respectively. Their cooling system supports up to 200W of thermal power, which allows the use of graphics cards up to RTX 5070 Ti. Configurations with up to 32 GB of DDR5 6400 MHz RAM (2 x 16 GB) are available. The new products also feature a 16-inch WQXGA (2560×1600, 16:10) OLED screen with up to 500 nits brightness and a 1 ms response time, but the maximum refresh rate is 165 Hz. The Pro 5 series utilizes Lenovo AI Engine+ with Scenario Detection, which dynamically adjusts CPU and GPU power depending on the needs of the moment. The Legion Pro 5i will be released in May (starting price $1499), and the Legion Pro 5 will be released in June (starting price $1399).
Lenovo also offers a 10th-generation Legion 7i designed for «gamers who are actively pursuing programs and STEM fields». The laptop also has an Intel Ultra 9 275HX processor, up to an RTX 5070 graphics card, and a 16-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz and a 1ms response time. However, its Coldfront Hyper cooling system supports TDPs of up to 145 watts, so buyers will get less performance than owners of more expensive Pro models. The Lenovo Legion 7i will be available in June for a price starting at $1599.
There is also a 10th-generation Legion 5i. Lenovo says that this model is designed for «university gamers who are not enrolled in STEM» programs. This model has a 15.1-inch WQXGA OLED display (2560×1600, 16:10, 165 Hz, 1 ms), Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, and RTX 5070 graphics card. There is also a variant with an AMD processor up to Ryzen AI 7 350. The Legion 5i is due to be released in May, with a starting price of $1299.
