Samsung introduced the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra, which fully meets previous expectations. Indeed, the corners are rounded, and inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has become thinner (8.2 mm versus 8.6 mm) and lighter (218 g versus 233 g) than S24 Ultra. Titanium is not only in the smartphone’s frame but also in all the names of the four colors belonging to the metallic range: Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver, Titanium Gray.
The screen received Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection — a coating stronger than the ceramic glass of the previous generation, and it is anti-reflective. Its characteristics have hardly changed: a diagonal of 6.8”, a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 and a refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, Vision boost, and adaptive colors.
In the phone, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor works along with 12 GB of RAM. Samsung speaks of a 40% larger vapor chamber for cooling the chip, a 40% faster NPU, a 37% faster central processor, and a 30% faster GPU than its predecessor.
Galaxy S25 Ultra received a new 50 MP f/1.9 ultra-wide camera, others we will call “traditional”: 200 MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.7, 50 MP f/3.4 x5 telephoto and 10 MP telephoto f/2.4 with x3 zoom. A 12 MP f/2.2 selfie camera is located at the front.
Galaxy S25 Ultra now shoots 10-bit HDR video by default (in S24 Ultra it was turned off “out of the box”). For the first time, Samsung offers Galaxy Log — a video mode with a wider color gamut. Expert RAW has a new virtual aperture mode that allows controlling the depth of field. Portrait Studio gives the ability to create personal avatars using AI.
The new NPU helps implement a range of artificial intelligence capabilities. Gemini can be summoned by holding the power button. The Circle to Search function can now recognize phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs for faster use. AI interprets text, speech, images, and even videos for natural interaction: for example, you can ask Gemini to find a certain photo in the Gallery. Content-aware search will suggest sharing a GIF file or saving an event. There is conversation decryption, summarizing, formatting of notes, generative editing now available on the device.
The Now Brief feature shows a brief summary of the day with proactive suggestions, adapted to the user’s needs and preferences: stock news, weather forecast, events, travel information, etc., Brief can be found on the lock screen. Galaxy S25 Ultra analyzes user data on the device and stores it in a confidential Knox Vault. There is even something called post-quantum cryptography for protecting data from threats that may arise from quantum computers in the future.
AI features are part of the One UI 7 shell based on Android 15, which was released on Galaxy S25, but will later appear on other phones. Samsung promises seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates.
Interestingly, the stylus included in this generation is no longer a magic wand — gestures and the camera remote shutter function have been removed.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is available in configurations of 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, and 12 GB/1 TB. It is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with support for wired charging up to 65% in about 30 minutes using a 45 W adapter, as well as fast wireless charging 2.0 25 W and reverse wireless 4.5 W. Available wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
