«Shake it and talk»: the Ministry of Digital Transformation will have a voice assistant to receive complaints against officials

The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, has announced a new service for citizens to interact with the government—a voice assistant that will allow users to complain about poorly provided government services.

“We’re thinking about a service where, say, citizens can shake their phone—a voice assistant pops up and you can dictate where you are and what issue is pissing you off,” Fedorov explained in an interview with the Rada TV channel (via dev.ua).

Next, artificial intelligence will take over, sorting the complaints and sending them to the appropriate department—push notifications through “Diia.Office” will go directly to the manager or employees. According to Fedorov, this feedback will allow every official to “live in the same reality as the citizens receiving the service,” and in the future, create a rating of government bodies based on feedback from Ukrainians.

The voice assistant service is expected to be available through the “Diia” app, but the exact timing of its implementation is unknown.

Let’s recall, this year the “Diia” app made it into the top 200 best inventions in the world according to TIME magazine—as the first product to offer a fully digital marriage process. In October, the service also reported having 21 million registered users.
