Skoda has shown a concept of its upcoming 7-seater electric crossover, the Vision 7S. As the name implies, it is a vision of what the car that will replace the current Kodiaq should look like.
Skoda Vision 7S is designed for families, even large ones. It is spacious and functional, filled with technologies to accommodate a large number of people. At the same time, engineers focused on environmental friendliness, using recycled materials throughout the cabin.
As the Vision 7S is a concept, the actual specifications are not yet finalized. The electric vehicle will have an 89 kWh battery and a range of 600 km on the WLTP cycle. It will support fast charging with a capacity of 200 kW.
The biggest advantage of the car is the spacious and practical interior of the Vision 7S. It has a 6+1 seating arrangement, which provides ample space for people and luggage. A notable smart feature is the center child seat. It has its own camera above it so that the driver can keep an eye on their child at any time during the trip. However, it occupies the seventh seat, limiting the practicality of the electric car. There are also magnetic cushions located in the front and rear of the car, providing a convenient way to attach items such as first aid kits, phones, tablets, or backpacks.
A 14.6-inch touchscreen with a vertical orientation is available in the driver’s seat. It has three viewing modes – home, basic and advanced. While driving, the screen will show only basic information about the car. The touchscreen is complemented by an augmented reality projection display to show trip data. The center console has two wireless chargers for smartphones and a relatively simple control scheme. Vision 7S has its own dedicated app to help you personalize your trip and car settings.
An interesting feature of Skoda Vision 7S is the Relax mode. When it’s activated, the dashboard slides back, the 14.6-inch screen rotates 90 degrees, and the seats return to a relaxing position.
Since this is a concept car, many of its features may be lost on the way to production. And it is likely that the Relax mode will be a paid option at best and disappear altogether at worst.
Skoda is expected to launch a 7-seater electric car based on the Vision 7S no earlier than 2026. It is likely that it will replace the Kodiaq – the current model is shorter than the Vision 7S.
