Sony has announced that players will no longer need to sign in to a PlayStation Network account to play four of its single-player games on PC: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (out today), The Last of Us Part II Remastered (out April 3), God of War Ragnarök, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.
However, Sony will still encourage players to log in with a PSN account while playing these games. To do this, the company will «soon» add «unlocking game content» such as outfits and resources:
Sony also claims that using a PSN account gives players benefits such as «trophies and» friend management.
Sony’s requirement of a PSN account for some of its PC games has not been popular. The backlash against this requirement for Helldivers 2 forced Sony to reverse this decision after the game was inundated with negative reviews on Steam.
