Sony has presented a new review of the PS5 Pro console, announcing improvements to the liquid metal cooling system.
The new improvements should give the PS5 Pro more stable cooling. The company made the improvements after a number of claims that the liquid metal used to cool the PS5 could leak and damage the gadget.
Some sites even wrote that you should not hold the PS5 upright after the Wololo portal distorted the statement of the owner of one of the repair shops in the YouTube video. Later, the authors of the article admitted that their initial publication contained a critical misunderstanding of the statements in the original YouTube video. Nevertheless, Sony announced changes to the PS5 Pro design.
«We spent a lot of time researching insulation when we designed the original PS5. The basic structure remains the same in the PS5 Pro, but we’ve made some improvements by adding thin grooves where the liquid metal is applied to make the cooling effect more stable. When we did the research for the original PS5, we assumed that semiconductors would continue to improve and become much denser, so we thought liquid metal technology would be crucial. It turns out we were right, and it was an integral part of the design of the PS5 Pro», — explained leading specialist in mechanical design of PS5 Pro Shinya Tsuchida.
It is noted that inside PS5 Pro has more thermal management system elements than electronics Some of these include a larger cooling fan, which the company says has redesigned blades, including smaller blades in between. It also explains why it’s so hard to see marks on the PS5 motherboard: the board hides additional electrical layers underneath to speed up memory access.
Meanwhile, sales The PS5 Pro was weaker in the first months than the PS4 Pro at launch. The latest model of the console costs $700, while PS4 Pro started with a price tag of $400. In Ukraine, PS5 Pro was initially estimated at more than ₴40,000. The high cost definitely limits the audience, even at the presentation players were outraged by the price.
