Sony invests in new projects by Elden Ring creators: will there be a sequel to Dark Souls or Bloodborne?

Sony is expanding its cooperation with the creators of Elden Ring and Dark Souls, so players can expect new large-scale projects in this style in the future. Kadokawa in financial report said that Sony will allocate funds for their new games, as now owns about 10% of the company’s shares.

The Japanese tech giant will finance and promote new FromSoftware games rather than develop them directly. Potentially, players can expect that the developers will please them with sequels Elden Ring, Dark Souls or even long-awaited Bloodborne 2.

The companies’ plans also include ideas for the adaptation of games into anime or movies. In the summer of 2024, FromSoftware CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that wouldn’t mind a movie adaptation of Elden Ringbut if a “very strong partner” is found, which Sony is now. The studio said that their sales grew by 38.6% and profits by 44.5% compared to the previous year, which adds optimism to the results of future cooperation.
