Sony is in talks to acquire Kadokawa media holding. About reports Reuters citing its own sources.
Kadokawa owns FromSoftware — the developer of Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series, and the PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne. The holding company also includes Spike Chunsoft, known for the Danganronpa series, Acquire, the developer of Octopath Traveler, and Gotcha Gotcha Games, which created the RPG Maker and Pixel Game Maker game designers.
The media holding has a developed anime and manga production division that will complement Sony’s assets, which include the Crunchyroll and Funimation streaming services.
The potential deal comes amid a large-scale restructuring of Sony’s gaming division. In February, the company laid off 900 employees, which is 8% of the total PlayStation staff.
