Steam obliges developers to indicate the content and release dates of DLC in season passes

Valve established new rules for seasonal passes on Steam. Now, before launching, developers must provide a clear description of the content and release schedule for all planned add-ons.

A season pass must contain at least one released DLC at the time of its launch. This rule does not apply to season passes included in deluxe editions that are purchased by pre-order.

«By offering a season pass, you are making a commitment to future content. During the launch, you need to specify the exact release dates for each DLC. This is your obligation to your users and Steam», — Valve’s new rules emphasize.

The company understands that there may be difficulties in the development process, so it allows a one-time postponement of the DLC release date, but not more than three months. If the developers cancel the release of a particular DLC, users will automatically receive compensation.

Steam can take action if DLC is delayed for more than a quarter, even without complaints from users. Possible sanctions include suspension of season pass sales and full or partial refunds to customers.
