Stellantis (a group of 18 automotive brands) has unveiled its newest development in the field of electric vehicles – the STLA Frame platform. This new platform is specially designed for full-size pickups and SUVs and aims to provide «best-in-class capabilities».

The STLA Frame platform is a flexible basis for a variety of powertrain options. While it will be used for all-electric models, it can also allow for hybrid, gasoline and even hydrogen vehicles.

One of the most interesting features of the STLA Frame platform is its exceptional range. With an estimated range of up to 500 miles (about 805 km), it will eliminate range anxiety, which is a common concern among potential EV buyers. This range is comparable to that of an internal combustion engine. This figure is achieved thanks to liquid-cooled battery packs with a capacity of 159 kWh to more than 200 kWh, located in the extended central section of the platform.

The STLA Frame platform is also characterized by high performance. It has a maximum payload of up to 6350 kg and a payload of up to 1225 kg. It is designed to handle the heavy-duty tasks required of pickup trucks and off-road vehicles. Thanks to support for fast charging with a capacity of up to 350 kW, it takes only 10 minutes to add 160 km of range. Vehicles built on this new platform will feature bi-directional charging, allowing them to power your home or return energy back to the grid.

The first vehicle to use the STLA Frame platform will be the Ram 1500 REV electric pickup truck, which is expected to hit the market in the first half of 2025. This pickup will be available in both all-electric and hybrid versions. The STLA Frame platform is also expected to underpin a number of future Jeep and Ram models, including electric versions of popular SUVs such as the Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee.
