A24 will make a series based on Stephen King’s dark fantasy «Fairy Tale».
The script is being written by Paul Greengrass (director of the fifth «Jason Bourne»), while J.G. Wyman (producer of the sci-fi series «Fringe») will serve as showrunner.
According to Deadline, the competition for «The Tale» by Stephen King intensified at the end of 2022, with Universal Pictures winning, which planned to release a feature film. At the same time, it was impossible to fit a 600-page book into a two-hour movie, so A24 picked up the project as a series.
Plot «Fairy Tales» (which, by the way, available in Ukrainian translation) focuses on the story of a 17-year-old boy, Charlie Reed, who embarks on a journey to the mysterious kingdom of Empis: first to save his neighbor’s sheepdog from illness by obtaining a magical longevity solar clock, and then to save the entire magical country and its inhabitants from the dictator who has usurped power there.
«”The Tale” — a wonderful but not perfect novel by Stephen King. This is another story about a boy, about his entry into adulthood, about childhood traumas and the struggle to overcome them.
