Following a short teaser that revealed the release date of the new season of «Stranger Things, Netflix published and the first shots.
The photos do not reveal any details of the plot twists and turns, but they do allow us to see the cast in character — some of the characters look too old, and this will probably make it somewhat difficult for the viewer to perceive the timing of the events of the fifth season, which will supposedly take place just a year after the events of the fourth season (and we haven’t even seen Audrey played by Millie Bobby Brown yet).
The pictures show us a familiar «younger» company: Mike (Finn Wolfgang), Will (Noah Schnapp), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin); the «seniors» consisting of Steve (Joe Kirby), Nancy (Natalie Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton); and the couple Hopper and Joyce (David Harbour and Winona Ryder).
The fifth season will be released in 2025 (no exact date yet, but hopefully in spring or summer, as usual) and will consist of 8 episodes. And, judging by of the published series titles in the second episode, there will be a surprise, as one of the words was removed from the title: fans are already speculating that the story of «disappearance» will concern Mike Wheeler’s younger sister, Holly (and probably she will be played by a new actress — again, according to speculations and leaks of some footage, it is the star of «Evil Dead Rising» Nell Fisher, who was mentioned among the newcomers to the cast).
Earlier, the showrunners of the series, the Duffer brothers, said that the fifth season would focus on the story of Will Byers and try to «do not repeat the mistakes of Game of Thrones in the finale».
Inspired by the works of Stephen King, the series «Stranger Things» began streaming on Netflix in 2016 — and since then, the show has remained one of the most popular on the platform. The fourth season of Stranger Things was released in two parts in May and July 2022, setting a record — in the first 28 days, viewers spent beyond one billion hours watching the series (1.35 billion hours to be exact).
