FBC: Firebreak / Remedy Entertainment
Remedy Entertainment shows a new trailer for the cooperative spin-off Control — FBC: Firebreak. Players seem to be preparing for even more anomalies and attempts to tame the chaos.
The video was released on the eve of the big show, which will take place on Thursday, April 24, on Twitch. In the latest video, the Firebreak team — operatives of the Federal Bureau of Control — are trying to tame another chaos in the Oldest House. This time, they have to fight against an extra-dimensional explosive slime of bright pink color (officially called Exogenic Mass). As well as ominous supernatural ovens.
In the background there are corporate identity of Control with weird humor and bizarre anomalies. In each mission, users will be thrown into a new sector that can work according to its own strange laws — from physics changes to effects like «status diseases». One such mission that Remedy showed earlier was about an invasion of sticky Post-It notes. The new — seems to play on the theme of a destructive substance that consumes everything and confused mechanisms in the form of uncontrollable ovens.
But the main thing is that FBC: Firebreak is not planned to be a live service with constant updates or battle passes. All updates after launch will be free, and the game will not include time-limited events. It is full-fledged cooperative game without unnecessary time drag, which is kept separate from the main plot. In general, this is logical, despite the fact that the action takes place in a familiar location — The Oldest House
It should be reminded that Control and Alan Wake are connected through the Remedy Connected Universe. In one DLC, the main character investigates events related to Alan Wake, which the Federal Bureau of Control classifies as an Altered World Event (AWE). According to the creators’ idea, FBI agents are engaged in researching supernatural phenomena that have been included in their archives. One of the most famous examples is the Alan Wake, when the data on the impact of the Dark Presence on reality got to them. Alan Wake himself was also in Control, but he had no influence on the plot.
Getting back to FBC: Firebreak — is scheduled for release this summer for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. On Thursday, April 24, the developers will tell more about the spin-off. In addition to Firebreak, the studio is also working on Control 2 and a remake of Max Payne 1 & 2 in collaboration with Rockstar. So, fans of Remedy games will have something to do this year.
