. However, the first reactions of the audience seem to indicate quite the opposite.

Currently, «Electric State» has a 19% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes; the final audience score is not yet available — however a brief overview of the first

  • «I’m so tired of critics. It’s a good movie, beautifully realized. Just accept it for what it is — an entertaining evening at the movies. It’s not Shakespeare and it shouldn’t be».
  • «The ending made me cry, the action was good, as was the script. Plus a few funny moments. I hope for a sequel, although I don’t think it will happen, I give it 9.4/10».
  • «Electric State — is a cinematic tour de force that combines stunning visuals, a compelling story, and powerful acting. It’s a movie that will stay with you long after the credits roll, prompting you to reflect on the ongoing evolution of the relationship between technology and humanity».

To be fair, there are a few negative comments that duplicate the reviews of most journalists:

  • «The visuals in this movie are pretty cool, but the acting, story and pacing are mediocre at best. Millie Bobby Brown proves once again that she can’t act, the only actor worth anything is Chris Pratt».
  • «The source material is so poorly realized, 1 star just because it has good visuals. They had so much material to make something great…».

As a reminder, «Electric State» is an adaptation of Simon Stalenhagen’s 2018 graphic novel of the same name, and the story is set in an alternate 1990s where robots that once coexisted peacefully with humans now live in exile after a failed uprising.

The story centers on a girl, Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), who travels across the American West with a mysterious robot and an eccentric smuggler, Keats (Chris Pratt), in search of her brother (Woody Norman). Also among the cast are Jonathan Ke Kwan (Dr. Amherst), Stanley Tucci (Ethan Skate), Giancarlo Esposito (Colonel Marshall Bradbury) and others.
