With the release of its second season, the sci-fi series Severance has surpassed «Ted Lasso» to become the most popular show in the history of Apple TV+.

According to a Nielsen report (via Deadline), the series by Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller has now garnered 589 million minutes of viewing for all episodes (28% of which came from the second season). The figure is expected to grow significantly until the finale airs in March (episodes are released alternately and one every Friday).

Similarly, the release of the second season of Severance triggered a +126% increase in the number of new Apple TV+ subscribers between January 1-19 compared to the previous month. In fact, at the same time, the service launched a free advertising weekend to celebrate the show’s premiere.

So far, all episodes of «Severance » have gathered more viewers than any other Apple TV+ series — with three seasons «Ted Lasso» including one that has long held the crown in terms of views on the service

The science fiction series «Severance » tells the story of Mark Scout an employee of Lumon Industries who agrees to a surgical procedure that separates his work memories from his home memories. In fact, from that moment on, two personalities exist in his body: intro (the one at work) and extra (the one at home), and neither of them has any idea what is happening to the other.

The series stars Adam Scott, Tramell Tillman, Britt Lover, Zach Cherry, Jen Tulloch, Michael Chernus, Deacon Luckman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette.

Initially, the second season of «The Severance » was rated at a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, naming it one of the best shows of the year. The series has now been officially renewed for a third season, and the creators hinted at what the final will be like.
