At the New York International Auto Show, Kia showed the American version of the EV4 electric car in a sedan body. This model is designed to compete with the Tesla Model 3.

EV4 — is Kia’s first global electric sedan. The car has a length of 4730 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm, which promises a spacious interior for rear passengers. The trunk has a volume of 490 liters. The EV4 has a MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, as well as a reinforced chassis in key areas. According to the company, this should provide a balance between comfort and dynamics.

The Kia EV4 continues the Opposites United design concept, which we have already seen on the EV6 і EV9. The car has an aggressive low nose with a new «tiger face», vertical headlights and Star Map lighting. Additionally, small LED cubes with a welcome lighting effect are available.

The fastback roofline smoothly transitions into an elongated, somewhat complex rear end. Vertical taillights and a two-section roof spoiler emphasize the sporty character of the car. The base Light and Wind trim levels are equipped with 17-inch aero wheels, while the top GT-Line has 19-inch wheels.

Three versions, two batteries, one motor

The Kia EV4 is built on the 400-volt E-GMP platform and will initially be offered with a single 201 hp (150 kW) electric motor providing front-wheel drive and two battery options.

The base Light model will be equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery pack, which will last for 378 km. The Wind and GT-Line versions are equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery, which provides a range of up to 531 km (in the case of the Wind).

On high-speed DC charging, the Light battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes, while the larger Wind and GT-Line batteries can be charged in — 31 minutes. All versions are equipped with a NACS connector compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.

Electronic driver assistance systems

The Kia EV4 electric vehicle is equipped with an advanced package of driver assistance systems, the main one being Highway Driving Assist (HDA). It uses navigation data to maintain the speed limit on highways. In certain conditions, the car can automatically adjust the speed and distance to the previous car, which is especially useful during long trips.

Since the system is not autonomous, the built-in hands-free function will not allow the driver to relax. Other features include driver fatigue warning, collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, speed limit, and intelligent parking.

Interior

The main feature of the cabin is a 30-inch display that combines two 12.3-inch screens (dashboard and multimedia) and a separate 5-inch screen for climate control. It is part of the proprietary ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) system that supports OTA updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an AI voice assistant, and the ability to customize visual themes on the dashboard.

In addition, the interior has a restrained two-color design that looks less ascetic than Tesla’s. The basic equipment includes dual-zone climate control with air ducts for the rear seats and an acoustic windshield. Heated and ventilated front seats (with driver position memory) and a heated steering wheel are also available.

Kia EV4 will go on sale in Europe this year with a starting price of €31.5 thousand.and in the US in the first quarter of 2026. The U.S. launch was postponed, probably due to plans to set up production at Kia’s Georgia plant to avoid import duties and maintain a competitive price. The estimated price is $35 thousand.
