Tether Data announces BrainOS — a competitor to Neuralink, but with open source

Published by Tetiana Nechet

Tether Company, the issuer of the largest stablecoin USDT, wants to make advanced neurotechnology accessible to everyone. That’s why Tether Data announced BrainOS, an open platform for improving human intelligence through brain-computer interfaces (BCI). This project is part of Tether’s strategy for ethical innovation and decentralization of neurointerfaces.

«With a chip connected to our brains, we could combine the natural creative abilities of the human mind with significant computing power. Such an approach, for example, could allow scientists to develop a deeper and more accurate understanding of the universe, physics, our own bodies, and the environment in which we live, all at an exponentially faster rate than current processes», — said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.

Tether supports BlackRock Neurotech, which has been developing BCI technologies for over 10 years. Their devices are used by more than 40 patients worldwide. BrainOS also includes new developments, including an electrocorticography (ECoG) plug-in for converting neurosignals into text and other projects aimed at integrating artificial intelligence and neurointerfaces.

Neuralink is a closed commercial platform created by Elon Musk. It is aimed primarily at medical applications, such as restoring motor activity in people with paralysis. Neuralink uses high-precision robotic implants that connect human neurons with digital systems. In contrast, the BrainOS project is open and accessible, which will accelerate the development of new neurointerfaces and reduce the risk of monopolization. Thanks to BlackRock Neurotech’s technologies, this platform already has real-world applications. In addition, Tether is actively developing AI solutions, including an AI translator, a voice assistant, and an AI wallet for Bitcoin.
