The first one showed «Avatar» the blooming planet Pandora, the second — its water resources. In «Avatar 3», which has a subtitle «Fire and Ashes» Along with the familiar landscapes, there will be something radically different.
The film’s production designer Dylan Cole presented Empire a new image of the places where the Ashes Clan, also known as the Mangkwan, whose leader is Warang performed by Oona Chaplin.
«They were hit by a natural disaster that shaped their culture. Most of Pandora’s world is rich, vibrant, and full of life — here it is just the opposite. Before, they didn’t live as fully as the Omaticaya from the first «Avatar»,” Cole says.
Director James Cameron has previously said that «Avatar 3» will showcase «cultures apart from the ones I’ve already shown. The Fire will be represented by the «People of the Ashes». I want to show the Na’vi from a different perspective because so far, I’ve only shown their good sides».
This is not the first time the film’s team has demonstrated concept art, where you can see airships of the Wind Traders tribe (Windtraders), who probably represent the element of air along with the ash people. There are also some not-so-blooming landscapes, but this last image is perhaps the most bleak, though fantastically beautiful. «Avatar: Fire and Ice» will be released in theaters on December 19, 2025. «Avatar 4» is expected in 2029 («if the world doesn’t explode by then» as joked by GamesRadar).
