Programmers from GSC Game World, who worked on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and «Cossacks» games, took part in the development of a homing munition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The company’s founder, Sergiy Hryhorovych, showed a model of the development during an interview on Volodymyr Zolkin’s channel:
«I was thinking about what to come to you with, so I took a homing bomb made by the programmers of the Cossacks and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It’s a model that has already passed a large number of tests. More than a hundred».
Hryhorovych says that this bomb is designed for large drones, such as «Vampire» (which can carry up to four such munitions at a time), flying at an altitude of 500-600 meters, thereby neutralizing the effect of standard electronic warfare.
«It calmly arrives, sees the target, and locks on to it. There is a large optic that transmits information about the target to a cheaper one. And according to the picture, the ammunition is already flying with additional targeting», — explains Hryhorovych. «Even with a deviation of 50 meters due to the wind or if the equipment is moving at 80 km/h, it gains 200 km/h. There is a camera on the nose, and tail servos that work very effectively after two hundred and correct the flight path. That’s why the bomb hits the target exactly».
According to the founder of GSC Game World, the bomb also has a cumulative warhead that pierces the armor of Russian tanks «through»:
«Exactly two holes: in and out. And everything inside burns».
In the same interview, Grigorovich promised to give his Rolls-Royce to the one who destroys the Russian frigate that «disgraces his name» and confirmed the release date of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, noting that «there are few bugs left in the game, and it’s no longer a shame to release it».
The release of «S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl» is scheduled for November 20 — the game will be released on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X/S, and will be immediately available on Game Pass.
