Geely Galaxy A7
Last week BYD has presented the Seal 06 DM-i hybrid wagon with a range of up to 2000 km and a price of $15300. Geely responds to this by announcing the Galaxy A7 mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, which promises even greater autonomy at a lower starting price.
Galaxy A7 — is the brand’s first sedan based on the new GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) platform, as well as the debut model with the new EM-i AI Super Hybrid 2.0 hybrid drive. The car is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an output of 82 kW (110 hp), which is paired with a 175 kW (235 hp) electric motor. They are connected through an 11-in-1 electronic transmission. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 7.1 seconds.
Geely will offer Galaxy A7 buyers two battery options to choose from. The basic version with a capacity of 8.5 kWh should provide a range of up to 70 km (according to the Chinese CLTC standard). The larger 18.4 kWh battery boasts a range of up to 150 km in electric mode (CLTC). Fuel consumption in hybrid mode is just 2.67 liters per 100 kilometers. With a full fuel tank, the car can travel more than 2,100 km (CLTC).
The Geely Galaxy A7 is 4918 mm long, 1905 mm wide, 1495 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2845 mm. In terms of these parameters, the Galaxy A7 is larger than its main competitors, such as the BYD Qin L. The model has a fastback silhouette and a low drag coefficient of 0.229. Externally, the sedan features a closed front grille, a 196-pixel LED strip in front and 19-inch Blade-style wheels. Six body colors are available: Enamel Blue, Frost Silver, Ink White, Obsidian Black, Misty Grey and Sky Grey.
Inside, Geely Galaxy A7 has a new Flyme Auto system. This is a joint development of Geely and Meizu, which is based on the Xingrui AI Cloud 2.0 cloud platform. It supports navigation, «over-the-air» updates, voice control with recognition of commands from four different passengers at the same time, and integration with Huawei HiCar and CarLink.
The multimedia system has a 15.4-inch display with a 2.5K resolution. An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster is located in front of the driver, and a projection display is also available in more expensive versions. Three interior trim styles are available: Snow White, Autumn Brown, and Misty Gray. The panoramic roof has an area of 0.87 m². The controls include physical rotary knobs for climate control and volume. There are also two wireless chargers with a capacity of 50 watts each.
All seats have leather trim. The front ones are equipped with heating, ventilation and massage function. The rear backrests can be adjusted up to 120° and fold in a 4/6 ratio, which allows you to increase the trunk volume to 988 liters.
Galaxy A7 is equipped with the G-Pilot H3 driver assistance package. It includes automatic parking, as well as the function of autonomous driving on the highway with navigation. The top trims have a Flyme Sound audio system with 16 speakers.
In China, Geely Galaxy A7 is offered in five versions with prices ranging from $14500 to $18650.
