The laptop of the future: Dell Pro Max with NVIDIA RTX 5000, Intel Core Ultra 200HX and CAMM2 memory

A leak revealed the Dell Pro Max 16/18 Plus laptops with NVIDIA RTX 5000 graphics, Arrow Lake-HX processor, and a new memory form factor.

The Dell Pro Max 18 Plus workstation has an 18” screen, and there’s also a 16-inch Max 16 Plus in the series. These laptops are the first confirmed models of early next year to feature entirely new hardware.

Intel confirmed that the Core Ultra 200HX Arrow Lake-HX processor series will be announced at CES 2025. However, NVIDIA is still keeping the suspense about the GeForce RTX 50 series, despite expectations. It’s reported that the Dell Pro Max 16/18 Plus will consume 170 W or 200 W — quite normal for a powerful workstation and less than some gaming laptops.

It’s likely the Dell Pro Max series will feature not the GeForce RTX, but a professional RTX 5000 based on Ada. It’s unclear why the graphics card isn’t marked as A5000 — perhaps a marketing trick, a different model, or the source doesn’t know.

A slide confirms that the system will utilize CAMM2 memory up to 256 GB. Additionally, it will have four M.2 2280 slots (or three for the 16-inch model). The laptop is equipped with a three-fan cooling system and uses a magnesium alloy to decrease weight. The laptops will also get Thunderbolt 5.
