The love story of Bill and Frank, shown in the first season of the series «The Last Of Us» — left few people indifferent (although the feelings of the audience in this case varied greatly), but in the sequel, HBO is preparing a new, no less emotional and somewhat tragic line.

The third episode of the first season of «The Last of Us», which focused on the love story of «survivalist» Bill (Nick Offerman) and his partner Frank (Murray Bartlett), was released under the title «Long Long Time» and received record views. At the same time, the reviews were contradictory: on Metacritic, for example, users gave the episode 5.1 points out of 10 possiblewhile the critics’ assessment amounted to 84 out of 100.
This episode sharply deviated from the main story and showed an independent romantic plot, covering about two decades of action. The second season will try to repeat this technique and adapt a touching chapter known from the game called «Birthday Present».
If you’ve seen the latest trailer for the second season of The Last of Us, you’ve seen scenes that hint at its arrival — in Seattle, after a grueling battle with soldiers and clickers, Ellie hides in a theater where she finds a guitar that reminds her of Joel and is immersed in memories of him taking her to a science museum for her 16th birthday. On one of the upper floors of the building, there is an aerospace section with a space capsule, and it is there that Joel gives the girl a gift — a recording of a space launch. It is a very special gift, given that Ellie has been dreaming of going into space.
Actually, like the story of Bill and Frank, this part of the series can dispel the gloom and complexity of the main plot. Much of The Last of Us Part II, which was adapted in the second season, focuses on Joel’s worst qualities – his lies, mistakes, violent actions – but this touching flashback is a timely reminder of his best quality: he is a great father.
The second season of «The Last of Us» will debut on HBO and Max on April 13, while in Ukraine the series with Ukrainian dubbing will most likely be officially available on Megogo from April 14.
