The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PC reveals system requirements — new characters, maps and No Return mode

Sony has revealed all the details of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PC, which will be released in two weeks.

The developers have prepared not only graphical improvements but also new content in the No Return mode. This time, players will be able to no need to organize «a riot» as in Helldivers 2, as you don’t officially need a PSN account to play the game.

But of course, Sony is still trying to entice users to log in to the PlayStation Network and has prepared bonuses. Players who link their accounts will receive 50 game points and an Ellie skin (Jordan A. Mooney jacket from the upcoming game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet). This costume will be available on PS5 in Patch 2.0.

Graphics, new maps and rogue-like mode in No Return

Since the improved graphics and technical features have not escaped TLOU 2 Remastered, the game will receive all the visual improvements that were in the PS5 version. Plus, support for modern technologies is expected:

  • DLSS 3 (Super Resolution + Frame Generation) for Nvidia cards
  • AMD FSR 3.1 and FSR 4 with frame generation
  • DirectStorage for faster downloads
  • Supports ultra-wide screens (21:9, 32:9, 48:9 with three monitors)
  • 4K resolution and the ability to disable FPS limiting

The ported game will allow you to customize the graphics in detail. These include textures, shadows, volumetric effects, reflections, ambient occlusion, and LOD. To play the game on the minimum settings, you will need a medium «hardware», but we will talk about this below.

New characters in No Return / The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered mode

First up — No Return mode with new characters and maps. With the release of the PC version, the rogue-like mode will be updated. The mode will include characters from The Last of Us Part I — Bill «Smuggler» (with a special pump-action rifle, reset bonuses, melee strength) and Marlene «Risk Taker» (assault rifle, ability to change the path).

Four new maps will also be available in No Return mode:

  • Overlook — a Seraphite meeting place with a steep elevation difference
  • The school is an abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina fought with the WLF
  • Streets — the overgrown area of Hillcrest
  • The Nest — a building filled with infected people, known from the campaign for Abby

These changes will be available not only on PC but also on PS5 — via the free Remastered 2.0 update. The game also supports full key reassignment, keyboard and game pad combination, and adaptive control mode. If you connect DualSense, you can use its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Now let’s move on to the system settings. To play on minimums or ultra, you will need at least the last «hardware»:

Minimal (720p, 30 FPS, low settings):

  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Disk space: 150 GB SSD

Recommended (1080p, 60 FPS, medium settings):

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • Video card: RTX 3060 / RX 5700 XT
  • RAM: 16 GB

Ultra (4K, 60 FPS, maximum settings):

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-11700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
  • Video card: RTX 4080 / RX 7900 XTX
  • RAM: 32 GB

The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PC will be released on April 3

on Steam and the Epic Games Store. And already The second season of The Last of Us starts on April 13 — Sony is clearly preparing for this premiere, which will not be ignored by the audience. Showrunners decided to show stalkers — piercing mutants, which game fans know as a completely different level of danger.
