The science fiction movie Star Trek: Section 31 starring Michelle Yeoh received the lowest ratings in the history of franchise.

Currently, on Rotten Tomatoes, the “freshness” score from critics is a modest 19% based on 21 reviews and 36 points on Metacritic based on 14 reviews. Perhaps this is too little to draw conclusions, however, all reviewers similarly review the film: outdated jokes, uninteresting characters and overall a “fiasco on the level of Rebel Moon.”

Reviewer Polygon called the film the “strangest” in the “Star Trek” series and criticized the compact format, which has ideas more akin to a series, and in IGN characterized the film as “100 minutes of nonsense with micro-elements of the original.”

“Scientists say that our Universe is constantly expanding. But some universes should know when to stop, as evidenced by the fourteenth film in the venerable franchise ‘Star Trek’,” summarized the site THR.

“Star Trek: Section 31” is the first television movie in the franchise, created by Alex Kurtzman. Essentially, the film is a continuation of the series “Star Trek: Discovery” and tells about Philippa Georgiou — an agent of Section 33, a secret division of the Star Fleet, tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets.

As of today, the film is streaming on Paramount+.
