The Daily Mail published a series of photographs from the set of «The Running Man —, a new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel directed by Edgar Wright, creator of «Scott Pilgrim vs. the World» and «Hot Fuzz».
In the photos, Glen Powell walks the streets in a simple gray sweatshirt and cargo pants. The location is filled with black retro cars from the 80s and dozens of extras in black security uniforms, creating the atmosphere of a totalitarian state of the future.
The cast includes «Avengers» star Josh Brolin, athlete and actress Katie O’Brien, and «Emmy» winner William Macy. In the story, the main character Ben Richards agrees to take part in a deadly reality show. In this survival game, participants run away from professional killers, and viewers place bets on their lives.
Production has begun on schedule, bringing the team closer to the planned premiere on November 21, 2025. After the two-month shooting period is over, the filmmakers will have almost a year for post-production, special effects, and an advertising campaign.
Unlike the 1987 action version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the new adaptation promises to be closer to the dark atmosphere of King’s novel. The photos show the beginning of the story, when Ben is still moving freely around the city, unaware of the upcoming chase for his own life.
