DOOM: The Dark Ages
DOOM: The Dark Ages — the prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal — has received a second trailer. It features the main antagonist for the first time.
He looks like a demonic man with a hypnotic appearance who plans to destroy humanity. This time, DOOM Slayer is literally in chains. Judging by the trailer, this is the work of angel-like forces, and the human army is not too happy that Slayer is back in the game.
After more than a minute of the storyline, the familiar rock music comes on and the gameplay begins. Among the notable new features are new weapons: rockets, a cannonball on a chain gun, and the main feature of this release, the shield saw. We knew more about it since the 30-minute gameplay. Also, the giant Atlan battle mech appears in the frame, and even a demonic monster in the style of C’tulhu.
According to Bethesda, The Dark Ages is set in a dark fantasy world with sci-fi elements. Players are promised «the cinematic story of the origin of DOOM Slayer rage» — before the events of the previous games. In the story, Slayer — is a super weapon created for gods and kings that challenges the hordes of hell. One of the demons wants to take his place and change the course of the war.
In the game, you will be able to fly a mechanical dragon Mecha, control an Atlan, and use the glory system for spectacular kills. The arenas are large, with verticality and a lot of hidden areas, and the locations themselves range from ruined castles and dark forests to hellish landscapes and uncharted worlds.
DOOM: The Dark Ages runs on the new id Tech 8 engine. It supports ray tracing, improved physics, dynamic weather, and 4K@60fps on powerful hardware. The Xbox version is demonstrated with a controller, and the developers promise excellent optimization for consoles as well.
id Software and Bethesda to release a new part of DOOM simultaneously on major platforms and in Game Pass May 15. In Steam the game is available for pre-order for 2449₴.
