Showrunner of the series Silo Graham Yost in an interview The Wrap explained the final scene of the second season and announced that the filming of the third «is already underway».

The article contains spoilers for the second season of the series «Silo» — and episode 10 in particular.

The tenth and final episode of the second season ended with a strange scene that threw events back 140 years or more, showing what the world was like before the unnamed catastrophe. In this way, the showrunners actually presented the idea of a third season that would partially focus on the origin of the bunkers — the actors whose dialog we heard in the final scene would also appear again in the sequel.

«I won’t go into details, but we’re going to get into an origin story in season three. You’ve already met Daniel and Helen, played by Ashley Zuckerman and Jessica Henwick», — Jost says. «Some people thought we’d end the story with Jule burning in the airlock. But, no, this is not a show that ends with a twist. Now we’re asking new questions».

Interestingly, Zukerman even had to change his name for his character (In Hugh Howey’s books, he appeared as Donald, and eventually became Daniel), and for another character, the gender was changed to «make their relationship something more than in the» books.

«We went into the origin story dramatically, renaming him from Donald to Daniel. No matter where you are on the political spectrum, we just didn’t want someone named Donald in that role».

Meanwhile, Juliet, despite what is mentioned in the second book Howie is only on one page, and he will also have a prominent role in the third season, Yost assuresHe also clarified that the third season has been filmed for several months, while the script for the fourth season is already fully written and it will start filming in the same way in 2025, after a short break following the completion of its predecessor.

The showrunner also emphasized that viewers should pay attention to the final conversation between Bernard and Juliette, in which every word is important».

«There are certain keywords that you will return to in season three. Those who have read the books know that Bernard dies at the end. But in the series, things can be different, as the first season showed».

Yost hinted that the sequel will also devote some time to the mysteries of Bunker 17, where Juliet met Jimmy/Solo:

«The main mystery is that all these people went outside, they had an hour to get out. Not everyone died in three minutes. What happened there? This will be part of the third season. You will get the answers. However, there are other things you won’t know until season four».

As mentioned earlier, the finale of the series itself has already been written, and Yost mysteriously says that there were many tears in the «writers’ room».
