The star of the TV series Severance is watching new episodes on DVD because he does not have Apple TV+ equipment

Actor Christopher Walken, who played Bert in the series “Severance”, in a new interview revealed that he has not yet watched all the episodes of the show, as he does not have the equipment necessary to connect to Apple TV+.

“I don’t have any streaming subscriptions, but Apple sends me DVDs,” — Walken shared in the Andy Cohen podcast (via Screen Rant).

Bert is an employee of the optics and design department, who befriended Irving from the macrodata processing department against the background of a shared interest in art. Eventually, the relationship turned romantic, however, at the end of the first season, Bert was sent into retirement, so at that time we were not given the opportunity to see how they developed.

Interestingly, actor John Turturro, who played Irving, himself suggested involving Walken for the role of Bert.

“I recently found out, and was extremely pleased to hear it,” — Walken tells in an interview with Collider. “I have known John for a long time — 40 or 50 years. As young actors, we walked around New York looking for work. And he’s a wonderful director, I’ve been in two or three of his films. I know his family.”

Walken noted that probably their long friendship enabled the necessary chemistry on screen:

“When you see people together, you can understand that they have known each other for a long time. They laugh at each other’s jokes and finish each other’s sentences. So it absolutely made sense that John and I would play people who love each other.”

Among the latest joint works of the duo (excluding “Severance”), one can highlight the crime comedy “The Jesus Rolls” from 2019. The film, essentially, is a spinoff of the cult movie by the Coen brothers “The Big Lebowski”, where Turturro reprised the role of Jesus Quintana and took on directorial duties.

Regarding the science fiction series “Severance”, the plot centers around a group of employees at Lumon Industries, who agreed to a surgical procedure that separated their memories into work and home ones. Essentially, two personalities live in one body and their plans and dreams do not always coincide. Currently, the first season is fully available on Apple TV+ and the first episode of the second season — the rest of the total of ten will come out every Friday, until March 21 inclusive.

In addition to Turturro and Walken, the main roles in the series were played by Adam Scott (Mark Scout), Zach Cherry (Dylan), Britt Lower (Helly), Tramell Tillman (Milchick), and Patricia Arquette (Kobel). The showrunner of “Severance” is Dan Erickson, and the director is Ben Stiller. The first season of the series was rated at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the second currently has 96%.
