The long-awaited “Superman” trailer has become the most popular in DC and Warner Bros. history, racking up 250 million views in just 24 hours.
“Krypto brought us home. With over 250 million views and a million social media posts, ‘Superman’ has officially become the most watched and discussed trailer in DC and Warner Bros history,” wrote James Gunn on social networks (via Variety).
In fact, the “Superman” trailer outperformed many popular releases this year: “Joker 2”, for example, garnered 167 million in a day, and the highest-grossing film of 2024, “Inside Out 2”, had 157 million. However, the record is still held by Marvel — the trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine” retains the crown for first-day views with 365 million and is even recognized for it in the Guinness Book of Records.
The first “Superman” trailer finally offered a full look at the “refreshed” appearances of many familiar characters — notably the Man of Steel, played this time by David Corenswet, Lois Lane portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan, and Lex Luthor, brought to life on screen by Nicholas Hoult. The plot of the new “Superman” version is still unknown, however, judging from the trailer, Corenswet’s character will have to face societal judgment, and of course save the world, as is customary for a superhero.
The movie will debut in theaters on July 11th (likely a day earlier in Ukraine).
