In addition to the updated slim flagship with a large battery Vivo X200s The Chinese company also offered the Vivo X200 Ultra cameraphone. This model is aimed at digital photo fans who, for some unknown reason, do not want to buy a full-fledged digital camera with interchangeable lenses. This new product also supports a variety of accessories, just like a real digital camera.
The Vivo X200 Ultra has a 6.82-inch OLED display with an integrated fingerprint scanner and the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The chip is complemented by 12 or 16 GB of RAM and from 256 GB to 1 TB of internal storage. The battery capacity is 6000 mAh, and the manufacturer promises that it will last «a day of use». The device supports 90W fast wired charging and up to 40W wireless charging. The smartphone is dust and water resistant and is available in silver, red, and black colors.
But the main feature of Vivo X200 Ultra — is the triple camera on the back, which can be upgraded with accessories. They not only improve the zoom, bringing it closer to the level of individual cameras, but also make the device more convenient for taking photos and videos.
Let’s start with the camera. It includes three modules. The main one is based on a 50-megapixel 1/2.28-inch Sony sensor, complemented by optical image stabilization and a wide-angle lens (14 mm, f/2.0). The second one has the same sensor and OIS, but the lens is optimized for portraits and scenes with blurred backgrounds (35 mm, f/1.69). The telephoto module is based on a 200-megapixel 1/1.4-inch Samsung HP9 sensor. It also has optical stabilization, and the lens has a focal length of 85 mm (f/2.27). This module is also used for macro photography. The front camera has a 50-megapixel sensor.
All rear cameras support 10-bit 4K video at 60 fps, as well as slow motion up to 4K/120 fps. Photo and video quality should be improved by two dedicated chips: VS1 processes RAW data from the sensors; V3+ is responsible for processing effects, filters, and color correction.
Similar to the Camera Control feature in the iPhone 16, the Vivo X200 Ultra has an improved shutter button that can be used to adjust the exposure or zoom by swiping it.
If the built-in capabilities of the smartphone are not enough for someone, the manufacturer offers an optional Photographer Kit that further enhances photo and video capabilities. It includes a grip with a dedicated video recording button, a customizable parameter wheel, zoom controls, and an additional 2300 mAh battery that extends the battery life of the smartphone. The Photographer Kit also includes a Zeiss 2.35x optical telephoto converter, which is attached to the smartphone using an adapter and further expands the zoom capabilities of the 200-megapixel camera from 3.7x to 8.7x. Vivo does not specify how much the weight of the smartphone will increase with this additional equipment, although the device itself already weighs a considerable 232 g.
The price of Vivo X200 Ultra starts at $890 for the 12+256 GB version, and the top configuration (16 GB of RAM, 1 TB storage) is estimated at $1096. The Photographer Kit costs about $356. It can also be bundled with the top-end configuration of the smartphone, and you’ll have to pay $1329 for the whole thing.
With this stuff, and especially with the additional kit, Vivo X200 Ultra really looks like a device with advanced photo and video capabilities. It would be interesting to compare the capabilities of this novelty and modern inexpensive mirrorless cameras.
