The world’s first passively cooled mini-PC with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U from OnLogic

The fanless mini-PC OnLogic ML1000G-42 with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U is designed for industrial use, but nothing stops you from using it as a regular computer.

Small PCs with passive cooling are not uncommon in the market, however, they often can’t boast high performance. It seems OnLogic has challenged this trend by introducing the ML1000G-42 with the powerful Hawk Point chip. The eight-core mobile processor with a 28W TDP works in conjunction with up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and the chip can be adjusted down to 15W.

“This processor doesn’t require very powerful cooling solutions, and it’s interesting why it took other companies so long to develop something similar to this system,” aptly notes VideoCardz.

OnLogic ML1000G-42 has two Ethernet ports, equipped with an M.2 slot for a Wi-Fi card. The base configuration does not include memory, data storage, or a Wi-Fi module.

The front I/O (that’s where the button is) provides two fully-functional USB4 ports, one USB-A 10 Gbps, one “two-in-one” audio jack, and an RS-232 COM serial port. On the rear panel (where there are no buttons), there are two USB 2.0, two HDMI, one 2.5 GbE RJ4 network port, another on 1 GbE RJ45, and a second RS-232 COM.

Despite a massive heatsink lid, this is a real mini-PC — its dimensions are 142 x 61.5 x 107 mm. OnLogic has not announced when it will be available for sale or how much it will cost. Also, it’s unlikely that this PC will be available in regular consumer stores.
